Help

I need each of you to suggest 5 movies to add to my Blockbuster queue.

New or old, mainstream or obscure.

I don't really do horror unless you are willing to come sit up with me all night to work through the nightmares I will have.

I have lived in a hole my entire life and you would be shocked at the movies I haven't seen. Star Wars you say? No- I haven't seen one of them. All of those Brat Pack movies from the 80-'s? Nope. Indiana Jones, The Godfather, Forrest Gump - who was in those? OK, so I know who was in them, but I still haven't seen 'em.

I know, I know.

Since I am not going to get cable I thought I would do some catching up in my spare time.

...I have no idea why it did so poorly in the theatres...
so, ok, two substitutes:
Sin City - Marv is Da Man!
Fallen - its about a demon, but its not a horror...honest

'As a matter of fact I can quote Man on Fire like nobody else!"---OMG, me, too!
We may be the only ones!
It was on HBO the other day, and of course, I cried at the end.

I'll suggest:
Diabolique, since you like the revenge type film

The Cooler---so underrated when it was out in the theater, but so very good!

Immortabl Beloved

Seeing Other People (w/ Jay Mohr): I recently discovered this one on Showtime, never heard of it before, but it's good/hilarious

Vanilla Sky--I know, I know people hate, hate, hate this movie but I think if anyone gives it a chance and sees it for what it is (not some Oscar hopeful flick); you may just actually enjoy it. Plus, there are sme great lines in it!

Wow. There are a log of comments on your blog. I like "who's eating Gilbert's Grape" or something like that. It is a movie about a woman that is so big the second level of the house where she is located, begins to cave in.

Ran across your Blog and enjoyed the way you put it together. A little on the light side, with serious content. I've been trying to acheive the same with mine VietNam, but to me it's a dismal failure.Trying to but in words like, what is agent orange seems to confuse the issue. If you ever see it, feel free to critique. Only way I'm going to learn. ---Jack---

I just got done putting the finishing touches to a new website about: Mesothelioma. It's got some great
information about Mesothelioma.

You should check it out sometime when you get time. :-)

Omgoodness, I have to double the reccommendations of Memento, Amelie, and Transporter--so very good (wee bit revengeful, as well)and can we mention how hot Jason Statham is, Hhhhot!

Stairwell, I have seen the original, I think its better, but I know some peeps feel strongly about subtitles. I think its better if you see the Cruise version first, so you know what's happening and then go watch the Spanish.

Animal House
True Romance

well then, by "genre", more or less, off the top of my head (can you tell I am avoiding work right now?):

"cool" movies, hip dialog, good action, a nice blend, and likely gun play:
Boondock Saints
Pulp Fiction
Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Fight Club
Way of the Gun
L.A.Confidential

"wacky chopsaki":
Big Trouble in Little China
Kung Fu Hustle
Kung Pow
more recent Jackie Chan flix

"Hard edged" movies:
Leon/The Professional
Taxi Driver - DeNiro at his VERY best
Godfather part 1/2
Payback
Scarface
Gladiator

classics/drama:
The Green Mile
Lawrence of Arabia
Amadeus

Slick flix that keep you guessing:
Usual Suspects
Memento
The Sixth Sense
12 Monkeys - Brad Pitt is awesome weird
Identity

"Teen" movies:
Better Off Dead
Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club
Say Anything - (we can thank John Cusack's character LLOYD DOBLER for singlehandedly making it difficult to get dates... cause we are not all like him...)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Comedy:
48 Hours
So I Married an Axe Murderer
Blues Brothers
Animal House
Anchorman
Napoleon Dynamite - you will likely be one of the few women who "gets it"
Beverly Hills Cop
.. there are a ton

Black (as in dark and twisted) Comedy
Fargo
Donnie Darko

Horror flix:
The Shining - cause Jack is awesome.
most of the others suck

Horror Comedy:
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness

Superhero flix:
Spiderman 1 and 2
Hellboy
XMen 1 and 2
Daredevil - only if you are a fan

did I mention I didn't want to be at work today?
